Ok, it’s not so ugly anymore, but I still laugh at the R. Kelly reference :)
At any rate, this week, Scott made some improvements to our master bedroom closet by installing the final remaining pieces to the upper shelving. I also put the final drawer into the larger unit in the back, and placed an ivory-colored rug on the floor.
If you recall from my earlier post, we didn’t have much to start with when we first moved in. Three (slightly bent) bars to hang clothes, three (very warped) shelves, and about 20 years of dust caked on every inch. The former owner also thought it appropriate to leave me her myriad of colorful and broken hangers (not shown).
Now, after a lot of hard work and a great BIG clearance sale, we have a much more efficient closet worthy of a master bedroom:
My side is divided in sections for the purpose of each type of clothing: work shirts, skirts/dress pants, going out, summer, etc. Scott’s side of the closet is fairly similar to mine, except he’s filled his open drawer/baskets with jeans (and let me use the lower drawers for my clothes until we get a new dresser).
The upper shelves are flush with the top of each central unit for maximum shelf space. Pretty baskets and boxes will later fill these areas. The shelves had to be ordered separately fromt the rest of the closet, and it took Scott quite a bit of effort to get these guys fitting into place (all four were made several inches longer than we needed).
The good news is, the sooner you can get done with your storage spaces, the faster other parts of the house will come together. Now that I have a place to tuck items away, it won’t feel like such a mad house when I’m tearing into the next room project. Score!
Seriously, those upper shelves should have come with an “tons of assembly required” sticker

I'm so envious of your superb closet system. Love it! We plan on tackling our master bedroom and closet soon. However, I don't think we have the neccessary space for a system like that. Wish we did!

The brand we used has a website where you can see differing designs as well as play around with their Virtual Planner to see if the system fits your closet's dimensions. Even if you don't wind up using them (they appear to be completely removed from most of our Lowe's stores here in GA), the software and picture gallery were a big help during the design phase. Glad you like it!
