Last week, I shared with you that I got so sick of my bathroom’s linoleum floor that I decided to paint it.
Now that the paint is fully dry, I’ve been able to get back into the room and take a few more shots.
The finish isn’t perfect.
But then again, the floor was far from perfect prior to paint.
Despite the flaws, it’s still a tremendous improvement over the yellowed hexagonal shape that was keeping the 80s alive and well in the room before.
Next step – removing the hideous wallpaper. And perhaps, a couple more changes, like the one you’ll see featured below!
** Update: A reader asked how the floors are holding up so far. I babble about this below. **
I have only had the floor in for a couple of weeks, but so far it’s holding up well. I notice that wet feet leave clammy moon-shaped prints, but after it dries, there is no evidence of it. And if I really press hard, I can scratch the surface a little with my fingernail.
I have not seen any chipping or peeling and I am currently without a bath mat (so lots of water is testing the surface with no apparent bubbling).
This was never meant to be permanent for me and my bathroom, but I think it will hold up pretty well over the next year as I save up for the bathroom reno. In fact, the little experiment went so well that I’m also planning on painting the guest bathroom floor with the same paint. Normal wear and tear (like dropping a hair dyer) will probably cause some scratches along the way, but I have plenty of paint to touch it up. All in all, I’d say twenty bucks well spent.

I want to do that as soon as we buy this house we're renting. The bathroom floors (and kitchen) are hideous! and who knows when we'd be able to afford a reno. Great idea!
