I have a pretty large (and still ever-growing) collection of tools. But when it comes to DIY, there is one tool (or tools, I suppose) that I think I’ve been really, truly missing in this house.
After all of the wallpaper is torn down, the walls are fixed, and the big DIY “home improvement” projects are done, I want this house to also show off my personal style. And I think these new tools are just the thing. Just like every tutorial for how to skim coat drywall needs a step-by-step guide, I think getting advice on what I consider the other half of DIY, the pretty half, needs guided help too. So I went on a bit of a bender and got all the ones my heart has been desiring for three years.
Of course, I’ll have to wait for the semester to end before I can probably give these the attention they deserve, but you’d be surprised how much reading I can get done when it’s not forced. Or maybe you wouldn’t be surprised; most of you are aware of how much a self-professed geek I am (and proud of it).
And while I’m on the subject of advice, Home Made by Carmona was sweet enough to ask me to be a part of her DIY series called Interviewing the Incredibles. First of all, being called an Incredible kinda makes me want to sport a spandex suit. Just a few years ago I considered others my DIY heroes, so being called one is a pretty big deal for me. And Ursula (btw, her last name is Carmona, hence the blog name) got me on a very chatty day, so be sure to stop by. I answer a few questions about how I prepare for big projects, how I stay motivated, and recommend a few tools that every DIYer (beginners and pros alike) should probably own.

I did the same thing a few months ago — I think I bought all of those except Marrakesh by Design. Maybe I need that one now…? :)
I have a growing stash of decor books as well, and lots of those titles are on my bookshelf. I would also recommend Perfectly Imperfect Home, it’s one of my favorites.

So jealous! I’ve been lusting after so many of those as well – I need to just bite the bullet and buy em! For now I’ll stick to design magazines!
