DISTRESSED WALL ART FROM SCRAP WOOD

To add some visual interest in the corner I created a series of wood blocks from scrap wood and painted them.

SUPPLIES

Aged wood accelerator Chalk Paint Mouse Sander 120 grit sandpaper Pencil Claw hammer Wood glue Screws

CUTS 

1 - 2x8 cut to 7-1/4" square 1- 1x4 cut to 3-1/2" square 1-1x3 cut to 2-1/2" square

CUT SCRAPS INTO SQUARES

Cut the 2×8, 1×4, and 1×3 scraps into squares.

SAND ALL  EDGES

I used my benchtop belt sander to add worn edges around all sides.

Distress using a hammer or screw driver.

DISTRESS ALL PIECES

I created stacks and glued them together.

STACK AND GLUE PIECES.

I added some extra detail by drilling into the center of the top pieces.

ADD A CIRCLE TO THE CENTER

CREATE DISTRESSED/ CHIPPY PAINT LOOK

Coat all sides with aged wood accelerator or stain.

After drying, spray each piece down with chalk finish spray paint.  Give them a final sanding and they are ready to hang on the wall!
