BEST TIPS FOR REMOVING OLD SHOWER TILE

UGLY DUCKLING HOUSE

If you're taking on your own DIY bathroom reno, there are some things you need to know about tile removal.

You can't just go in hammers swingin'. It's tedious, I'm not gonna lie to you. Use these tips and you'll get it done effectively and quickly!

Keeping your tub?  Protect it with a sheet to catch the tile and prevent scratching the tub.

Disposing of the old tile is as easy as folding up the sheet and dumping it in the dumpster.

Start at the edges.  This may seem obvious, but outside > in works best.

Be mindful of plumbing and other things in the wall. Swinging a hammer at the drywall without knowing what's behind it is a recipe for disaster.

Green board is no longer up to code for use in a shower. Cement backer board is the way to go.

Make sure to use a waterproofing material to seal the seams.

It's very satisfying when you finally get all that old tile off the shower surround! Swipe up for more tile demo tips!
