Make these wall planters plus a cool new stain technique.

SUPPLIES

IKEA VILDAPEP planters 3/4 Scrap plywood Sanded plywood Spray Paint Minwax Pre-stain wood conditioner Minwax Penetrating Stain in Rustic Beige

TOOLS

Miter saw Pencil Wood glue Orbital sander Sandpaper Measuring Taps Iron-on edge banding Dovetail saw

CUT PLANTERS IN HALF

Cut some scrap 2×4 to help hold the planter steady across the diagonal.

CLEAN UP EDGES

Sand down edges to make a flat surface.

Cut back pieces for each planter and attached them with a wood glue.

CUT AND ATTTACH PLANTER BACKING

I wound up spray painting the wood planters on a whim.

CUT THE WOODEN DISPLAY PIECE

To finish off the edge of the plywood, I added iron-on edge banding.

I used Minwax stain color Rustic Beige, for even color distribution pre-treat with wood conditioner.

STAIN THE WOODEN MOUNT

Attach the planter boxes and it's done!
