Posts attached to your front porch aren’t supposed to move. Especialy when they are holding up part of your roof.

But mine does. Rut ro.
The short term fix? Shims, a hammer, and then paint. I’ll probably have to replace them soon, but shims trump a possible collapsing roof any day.

Comment Policy: I love comments, especially if they make me laugh. Feel free to let your words of wisdom and humor fly (there's no swear jar on this blog), but if you're overly spammy, rude, or just plain boring, you're just going to have to accept that your comment may not see the light of day. P.S. If you leave an affiliate or monetized link when making a comment on this site, such links might get overwritten by a plugin I have installed that uses my own internal tracking. 1. Was this something that happened over a long period of time, and you just noticed it? Or did this suddenly happen in the wake of a freak earthquake or something?

  2. No earthquake :), I just live in an old house that constantly has weird things popping up. I wouldn't have noticed the post problem had I not been leaning on it in exactly the right way during some recent outdoor fixes.
