I simply adore this steel planter from gusmodern.com, but while my wanting is virtually unlimited, the funds to spend on it are not. Now that it’s spring, I wanted to bring some of the outdoors in with a little greenery, so it was time to improvise.

Going with the boxy look, I was on the hunt at my local Target for a simliar rectangular shape but with a much more understated price tag. I was thrilled when I stumbled upon this fab look-alike for only $.

But, what to plant? I had less than stellar results when I tried growing basil, so I would need a different guinea pig this time around. Hello, wheat grass.

I found this little packet at my local Whole Foods and thought that the instructions were simple enough, even for a plant killer like me. Simply fill the planter with soil, spread the seeds around, cover with a shallow layer of dirt, add water, and watch it grow.

And this, my friends, is how you get a lot of green for a little green.
