Scott and I are back from our vacation (I will never tire of reminding myself that), and it’s finally time to slather on some elbow grease and get back to what I love – making my old lady of a house into a fresh young home.

However, there are a few developments that I haven’t yet mentioned, so I’ll catch you up to speed…

My aunt and uncle have confirmed that they are coming down to Georgia in the next few weeks, which means my wishlisting has officially begun. Time to get the materials gathered and put a plan into action!
Our broken A/C was fixed. Thank you, home warranty! I still have to (RE-)paint the ceiling where the water leak left its mark.
Just before we left town, our washing machine broke. Again. Back when Scott and I lived in our old apartment, we creatively worked around the problem (just a smidge more legit than There, I Fixed It). I’ll post you all about it next week, which I hope is enough time to fix it again.

-Here is where I ask myself, why did so many things have to go wrong before we left town???

My parents were kind enough to take care of our laundry sitch so that we didn’t have piles of it when we came home, plus fumigating the house to ensure we’re heading into fall without any little pests interrupting our new projects.
Now that the living and dining room floors are complete, we need to install quarter round. A buddy of ours has a nail gun, which we hope to borrow soon and finish the job.
Our next big tackle is the kitchen. Scott will again be focusing on the floors while I will be testing out paint for the cabinets. Plus, as I mentioned above, my uncle will assist with a few electrical improvements to turn our outdated kitchen into something I want to cook in.
With any luck, our improvements will be significant enough that Scott and I feel comfortable to finally have our housewarming party by the end of the month. Just in time for Halloween, my favorite holiday!
