* GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED *
Congrats to the winner! See below.
If you saw my Facebook page update yesterday, the second/third coat has been painted on the cabinets, and the door fronts have received their first coat. I cannot WAIT to show you progress photos tomorrow (and I’m hoping I can get another coat on the doors this evening to get me even further).
For today though, let’s do something fun. That giveaway I mentioned last week was postponed a few days because apparently I’m forgetting how to host giveaways and still had extra questions to square away before I could post. Sorry about that, but it’s a pretty nice prize, so I’m hoping this will smooth it over ;)
Aquasana gave me the exact same filtration system to review as well, but I’ve decided to wait until the new counter and sink goes in (hopefully next month) before putting my plumbing skills to the test (and if I fail, I’ll at least have some help stopping by). The current sink layout is simply not cooperating. All I can say so far is that the faucet looks really nice and will pair well with the upgraded faucet I’m planning to use with the new sink, as you might have seen on my kitchen mood board. But my delay doesn’t have to impact you winning it!
So, let’s jump right in… here’s how to enter:

Woot woot!! Hitting the museum with my boys (ages 7, 4 & 2)!!
I’m so excited to see how the cabinets come out! I’ve been in love with dark lowers and light uppers recently…. too bad I still rent an apartment. My mood board is looking pretty sweet nowadays, though :)
Can’t wait to see the cabinet progress either!
I love Yellow! Plan to paint my front door sunshine yellow, next week.
I would love to win this! We have well water so we frequently drink via the Brita… but we’re going to be renovating our kitchen in the next month or so, so I would love to include this in the renovation!! PS – I recently used the Safe and Simple product to take down wallpaper per your recommendation… and I wanted to say THANKS because it really made the whole process SO quick and easy!!
perhaps this little lovely could be the jumpstart for that kitchen reno i’ve been putting off for the past 3 years…
Super excited to see your progress!
Great giveaway! Would be great in a new kitchen!
Today my project is be making flower arrangements for friend’s family funeral. Not the most uplifting project, but always happy to help a friend. And heck, besides the everyday, an extra water faucet w/ filter would be helpful for future projects when the sink is overtaken by flowers.
This would go really well with the new sink I am planning on getting soon :)
Is it weird I’ve always wanted one of these? We use and abuse our Brita so I’d love something right on the sink…
I just recently started following your blog, because of the kitchen cabinets! We are closing on our first home next week and the cabinets will be painted at some point, but I am already preparing! Thanks for documenting your experience with it so I can follow along!
Thanks for the contest. I would love that water filter!
Can’t wait to see the kitchen :0)
I’m going to re-do my cabinets and sink soon, so it’s fun to follow your progress! But for this weekend I’ll be finishing up the redesign of my front yard. I may never want to look at another bush or plant again at the end of it.
This is awesome! I would love this for my kitchen makeover.
This looks awesome!
Dog rescue!
I drink so much water that I really do need to install one of those things! I can’t wait to see how your cabinets come out, I’m so glad to see you painting them a nice color rather than the white it seems like everyone else does!
Well, the top cabinets will be white, but I think the two colors will look neat together and really brighten things up.
I hope I didn’t come across as offensive! I think the white will look really good on top. I’m just so happy to see some COLOR on cabinets! I really like the two-tone look and I’m sure yours will be fabulous. I’m partial to grays so I can’t wait to see the outcome of the two together. I was wondering – does Charlie ever rub up against your bottom cabs and get dirt on them? My mom’s dogs both do that… they’ll come in from the yard and will have rolled in something, then they lean on the cabinets. We have to wipe them down frequently.
Oh gosh, no! Not offensive in the least. As for Charlie, she likes to rub up against my legs like a cat for the most part. Because she sheds though, I’ve had to be very careful to wipe down the cabinets & doors before painting them again – no telling if a wayward hair will wind up in the paint (not that it has, cough cough).
Ohh man, I know that feeling!! We redid my mom’s cabinets last summer with PolyShades, and it was a nightmare. There was SO MUCH FUR EVERYWHERE… one of her dogs is a wolf/shepherd hybrid and she has one of those double coats characteristic of wolves. Vacuuming frequently doesn’t even seem to put a dent in it! She sheds so badly that we wound up having to do everything at my friend’s house, just to get it away from the fur. It was even blowing around outside! I got very adept, at least with that first coat, at picking the stray hairs out with tweezers.
this weekend we’re working on installing a tv wall mount- woo hoo!
thanks for the giveaway :)
Really really need this….we have well water! Thanks!
Great giveaway! Thank you!
Just recently started following your blog as I embark on a fixer-upper journey. Can’t wait to dig in and use some of your tips! :)
Very Cool!
Just got done painting the bathroom the other day….Now I am slowly painting the wood trim in my house white. I am doing small sections at a time, so my house will look like a mess until I am finished. It is too hard with a 17 month to do it all at once since she wants to help and touch the wet paint. ;) Love the blog.
I hear ya! Between school, work, blog, etc etc I never seem to have enough time to do the things I want. And then when I get time, I’m tired. Ha!
I am repainting my kitchen including painting all the cabinets right now. I love what a difference it makes!
Awesome, feel free to send me pictures! Love a good before & after!
Thanks for the chance to win! Currently remodeling my first house, in its entirety. The kitchen has old 1950s cabinets – haven’t decided to completely replace or keep them yet. Definitely need a coat of paint if we keep them :)
I think this would be a great replacement for the broken soap dispenser I’ve currently got! Thank you for the opportunity!
Awesome giveaway! Can’t wait to see the cabinet transformation!
Can’t wait to see the cabinets tomorrow!
I’m SO thankful that you’re doing these posts – I’m painting my cabinets soon, so I look to my favorite bloggers for advice. I’ve already purchased the deglosser that you used, and after a test run have decided it’s a definite winner for the cabinets. Thanks so much for putting your DIY life out there to help us with our own projects (and make us laugh hysterically)!
Happy to help :) And I learned a lot from several other tutorials, too. This one from YHL is awesome, and they have a good timeline on it too. This one from Bower Power is also great, and The Inspired Room did the two-tone look, so you can check it out too.
I really need to tear into our home office. I had hoped to get to it before the kids went back to school, but that didn’t happen. I’m hoping to build a custom desk and put in lots of organization to take care of all the school papers and other things that kids bring.
Is Charlie excited about drinking purified water?
Haha she has no idea how good she has it ;)
I already have a hole cut in my granite so obviously I need to win this. ;o) Thanks for the great giveaway!
I love blue. :)
This would make my life so much easier…Not to mention more stylish than the typical hang off your faucet filters.
Working on a few movies and tv shows.
I would love this! I think it might finally get a kitchen reno started.
Yay! This would be awesome. I wonder if I could get it to dispense Diet Coke… lol
This would be amazing and help make our water healthier. Thanks for the chance & good luck in the kitchen!
Would love to win this! It will require me to finally put in my new sink, but sometimes you need a push ;)
Commenting! My fave color is blue :)
I just moved into a new house and I would love this water filtration system. I carry a water bottle everywhere I go so winning this would be awesome!!
This thing would be so freaking handy! Our under-sink area is a hot mess right now, but hopefully by this time next year we’ll have new cabinets and a new sink. Fingers crossed.
That would go perfect in my kitchen. Pretty please pick me Rafflecopter!
Its the Mr and I’s 8 year anniversary this weekend. We’ve got good old DIY on the agenda. It is our favorite activity!
I love checking out your progress on this project. Most bloggers just post when everything is done. I like to know all the speed bumps and decisions along the way that leads to the masterpiece. :)
The water filter looks like a much better thing to have than a soap pump!
Love reading your updates. You inspire me to push through the small projects we’re doing now.
I’m working on my NEVER ending Master Bedroom remodel. One day it’ll be finished!
I’ve been wanting to paint some dated wood cabinetry for a long time and I love how detailed and candid your posts are, so I can’t wait to see how beautifully your kitchen turns out!
Nothing like a fantastic giveaway to bring out a lurker! Love reading your blog — it makes me feel like I’m not alone with 16 different remodeling projects all in various stages except completion.
Can’t wait to see how the cabinets turn out!
Cabinets are looking good. I started the same process about 10 yrs ago. Have finally decided to just replace them. New cabinets in the box have been in kitchen a little over a year now. Keep up the good work.
would love to win this for our basement bar!
Would love to have fresh purified water! Can’t wait to see the kitchen! :)
Great give away!
i miss your face. <3
What a great giveaway! Not paying for bottled water would be wonderful.
Great progress on the kitchen! I’m loving the give-away too.
Would love to use this to set up a wet bar area!
LOVING this series on upgrading your kitchen! i love the painted cabinets and i’m so excited to see someone not taking 4 years to sand them all down to perfection. I know i don’t have the time or patience to sand all our ugly oak down! Love your blog, don’t know where you find the time to do all the projects, school, job and blog about it but i for one appreciate it!
Just finished putting up my gallery wall in my dining room and every time I look, it makes me smile!!
Thanks.
Hopefully by the end of this month I’ll have a new-to-me kitchen to remodel! A built-in water filter would be dreamy. :)
Love it!
Ooh i love these things!
A friend of mine has this (maybe a different model) and I love it! Cannot wait to see your cabinets!
The cabinets are looking awesome! I will be following your steps to do my own cabinets. I can’t wait!!
Yay, give away!
Can’t wait to see the kitchen! Thanks for the giveaway.
Can hardly wait to see the finished cabinets. I’ve been waiting to tackle the same project on my yucky oak cabinets for a while now – want to see your final opinion on the BM Advance performance.
Also – yay for the giveaway!
This weekend, we have plans to go to the Toledo Zoo! Thank you for the giveaway, would love to win, we go through way too many bottles of water!
Oooh! we would love this in our house!
I am looking forward to your next ‘paint kitchen cabinets’ installment!
I can’t wait to see how those cabinets look! I would totally love to paint mine (someday) but am so scared! It’s nice to see other people successfully complete it first. ;-) maybe it’ll give me the confidence that I can get it done too?!
I can’t wait to see these cabinets! I mean, seeing the finished product would be great, too… but the cabinets are such hard work!
Love the white on top/dark on the bottom cabinets. My husband doesn’t know it yet, but that is definitely the way we are going. Can’t wait to see your finished.
OHHH MYYYY filtered water would take spoiling my dogs to a whole new crazy-lady-level.
Going to the lantern parade in Atlanta!
Can’t wait to see how the cabinets are going to look… I’m working on staining mine with a dark gel stain. But so much prep work UGH, but your blog keeps me motivated!!
This weekend I’m hoping to do nothing! First weekend since my daughter started school and I’m exhausted :)
You are an inspiration for DIY women everywhere! :) Working to finish the baby’s room this weekend. He’s already a month old…I’m clearly behind.
Gosh – you are so patient with that painting! I would be driving myself nuts right about now. We are brita-filter junkies so having this would be awesome!
I am getting my bake-on as I am making 400 cupcakes for my brothers wedding the 13th!! YIKES!!! What was I thinking?!?!
CONGRATS!!! You’re the winner! Check your email.
Great job with your painted cabinets! You are inspiring me to re-paint ours… I can’t decide if that is a good or bad thing… anyway, we are planning to install a drinking water filter in our kitchen, so this giveaway is perfect for us!
I recently painted my old oak kitchen cabinets so I feel your pain. These photos are like ‘Nam flashbacks…
I think the cabinets are looking great! You’ve inspired me to do something similar with mine…. once Im done sanding the 100 year old railroad timber floors with a hand held orbital sander because they are too uneven for a drum or pad sander… Yeah. This would be so super great in that new kitchen that Im still using in its pre-new state. :)
I’m going to a housewarming this weekend… and bringing an LED light bulb as a gift!
I love your grey cabinets and can’t wait to see the finished reveal!
We already have an in-sink water filter and it is soooo convenient, I love it! But ours isn’t nearly that pretty…and it’s leaky :( haha. Thanks for the giveaway :)
State fair this weekend, with a predicted high of 98. Woooooo!
pick me, PICK ME! loving the kitchen updates, by the way. can’t wait to see the finished product!
i’ve been tempted to paint my cabinets as well, but they’re practically brand new shaker style cabinets. they’re super nice, just not what i would have chosen for my super dark kitchen. maybe i’ll just upgrade the lighting instead…
Taking in a Minnesota Twins game this weekend and catching up on sleep! Happy painting to you :)
I am about to start my own similar kitchen remodel but now I’m getting a bit scared!
We just painted our kitchen cabinets gray and I’m enjoying comparing and contrasting our processes!
My favorite color is blue
Good luck with the kitchen! We’re working on a bathroom remodel (for the past 8 months!)
Keep up the great work- I’m really enjoying reading your blog!
Went and saw lots of adorable puppies at 19 Breeders Puppies in Johns Creek. I wanted to sneak one in my purse when we left, but unfortunately, my dorm doesn’t allow pets. :(
I’m remodeling my entire house before I can move in- a good water filter would be awesome!
Cant wait to see your finished kitchen!!
fave color is blue… and not much going on this coming weekend…bachelorette party for my supervisor on Friday after work then spending time with family.
Excited to see the progress on your house! Can’t wait to get started on mine.
I sometimes wonder if I’m the adult version of the little girl in Signs because I leave glasses of half filled water glasses everywhere in my house. :)
Haha, me too!
What a great giveaway!
I’m really going your no sanding cabinet painting method works. I really want to paint my kitchen cabinets but have zero desire to sand them all first.
Love your cabinets. Can’t wait to see them finished.
Pretty much all I drink is water, so a filter would indeed be nice. Also, I really can’t wait to see your finished kitchen cabinets! That color is so rich, I’m sure it’ll look lovely!
Can’t wait to try your painting techniques on my own cabinets! Never thought of using a dry roller…
Love what you are doing with the kitchen. Can’t wait to check everyday to see what you have done. Would love to win this filter. I have city water. Just before I got on here to check my fav. blogs, I got a drink of water to take my morning medication. The smell of chlorine hit me in the face and I know it is also full of fluoride. So, I will be wishing and hoping…
It would be so awesome if I won this! (fingers crossed)
Your kitchen is looking great! I’m in the middle of renovating my kitchen as well, so I totally understand what your going through. I have yet to finish paint ting the doors for my cabinets. Good luck on the remodel and can’t wait to see it finished!!
I have to work this weekend! Boo!
red is my fav. color and I’m going to paint my room at the weekend
Buddy the elf, what’s your favorite color?
Red, No! Bluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuue! (brain teaser… name the second movie).
monty python and the holy grail.
love that movie.
no, let us not go to camelot. it is a silly place.
i’ve been so bored at work lately that i’ve been redesigning my kitchen.
doesn’t really help with the bordem, but it keeps me from stabbing the radio for playing the same set of songs 6 times a day and then adverting that they’ve got “the most variety, the least commercials!” in their little mini commercial/catch. *eyetwitch*
My projects are stopped at the moment for lack of time and money, soooo my favorite color is red! heheheheheh
