Believe it or not, a lot of my instincts on how to do home remodeling got its roots with art and crafting as a kid and into my teens. Both of my grandmothers had amazing abilities (crochet, cross stitch) and my grandfather enjoyed paper crafts. I absorbed them all.

When I got to college, my creative side was my outlet for relieving stress: painting, scrapbooking, small gifts, and other ideas. It didn’t take long for roommates and friends to nickname me Martha (as in, Stewart… though I suppose these days it has a lot of other implications as well…)

When I finally bought my house and began to DIY, I drew on these memories time and time again. After all, if you can create a mosaic design on a wooden box out of little tiles, it’s not all that different from tiling a floor!

While I don’t have as much free time these days to do these kinds of projects, I still really enjoy them and obsess over crafting trends as I always did. Whenever I dabble, I’ll share them here. I hope you find some great ideas of your own as you scroll through this collection. Happy crafting!
