Say sayonara to our boxes and boxes of laminate flooring. Because we’re finally finished with the installation!

Or, rather, Scott’s finished. This is a project I can’t take any credit for whatsoever because it has been all Scott. And he is quite relieved to be done.

We had two full boxes left over, so those will be returned to the store. The random excess and “oops” pieces, however, are going into the fire pit. As you can see in this photo, Scott had a lot of fun taking his aggression out on the leftovers!

It’s therapeutic, I tell ya.

And just for good measure, I’ll give you a before and after to sate your curiosity. I wish I could show you the kitchen (it looks sooo good!), but it’s currently buried under extra powder room related materials. And dirty dishes. So for now, you’ll have to settle for the entryway:

Before
After
I know it looks like the walls are warped. They are… but the camera is exaggerating it. I don’t really live in a place designed by Willy Wonka! And the closet door on the left had to be removed for the floor install. While it’s off the hinges, I’ll paint it to get it white n’ spiffy using my trusty “keg”horses.
With the floor fully installed, all that’s left is to install the remaining shoe moulding and this big, FAT project can be checked off the list. What about you – have you gotten any big projects completed recently?

  1. Wow – what a difference! It looks great! I can't wait to see your kitchen. :)

And yes – we have gotten quite a few big projects done lately. We'll be revealing those soon… ;)

Doesn't it feel great to be done?!

  2. Congrats on getting the flooring finished. Just a thought – do you think it might be a good idea to hold on to those extra pieces/boxes of flooring? Just incase you have an accident in the future and need to replace just a small section of the floor?

  3. Great question, Amy!

Keeping some extra on hand is definitely a good idea. We have about a half a box of whole pieces that we are planning to put in storage in case we need to replace anything. Plus, the flooring has a warranty if things don't work out the way they are supposed to. Hopefully that will be enough to cover our bases. Thanks for bringing it up, I had forgotten to mention it!
