Have you ever asked a question on this blog (or any other) that you never received an answer to?

Not to worry; we’ve all been there.

Many of my commenters often ask questions that I’d like to immediately reply to. However, there is a bit of a default flaw with Blogger that can sometimes hinder me from replying directly. During initial setup, the default setting for your user profile begins with noreply-comment@blogger.com. While I appreciate that Google is thoughtful enough to make sure that you aren’t getting contacted when you don’t want to be, it can be a bit frustrating when you are sitting at your computer, oggling that paint color in the inspiration pic, anxiously awaiting an answer on what paint they used (can you tell I’m talking about me, here?). And nothing.

I could do what others have done and kindly ask you to change your profile settings. In all honesty, it would be nice for me to have the option to just reply to you instead of to the group as a whole. Sunny at LifeInRehab made a fantastic post here with screen shots to get you to the right place if you are interested in changing this setting.

I am going to go the opposite approach when it comes to my blog, though. As often as I would love to help those out there who want a reply, I’m already quite the nag in real life (between the dog, the boyfriend and a technology-based job, I’ve got my hands full). I don’t want to add to it by hassling my readers.

Hence the reason why my comment box tells you that I’ll reply to questions directly to the post (thus giving others a chance to see the answer too). And, as of this week, I’ve added a new opportunity for your questions:  Formspring.

The Ugly Duckling House – Formspring Page

Formspring is a site where you can ask me questions (anything that pops into your head) and you get an immediate response back from me. I will be checking it often, so if there’s a question you’ve been dying to ask (even if it’s not DIY related), ask away!

Comment Policy: I love comments, especially if they make me laugh. Feel free to let your words of wisdom and humor fly (there's no swear jar on this blog), but if you're overly spammy, rude, or just plain boring, you're just going to have to accept that your comment may not see the light of day. 1. Cool idea! I only recently realized that my e-mail was set to the “no-reply” thing. Oops!
