Typical me: in the last week, I’ve spent a few hours skim coating drywall in the dining room (pictures posting of this tomorrow)… and therefore am daydreaming about redoing other rooms. My kitchen – aka “Moby Dick” as I’ve been calling it lately because it’s my white whale as far as rooms go in this house – is on my mind.

I spotted the above picture the other day on another blog and was suddenly struck by how tiny these tiles are. They appear to be even smaller than the normal mini subway tiles you see sold by the sheet, and they’re not the mini square mosaic tiles either. It’s almost like a hybrid. I’m calling them “microtiles” – and now I desperately want to find some. From a practical standpoint, that much grout may be a pain – but the look is unique. Has anyone else spotted these around?

    1. Thanks for the tip! I'm going to their site right now to check it out.

  1. I've discovered that Lowe's (at least here in Canada) has a pretty amazing tile selection for being a big box store.

    1. They do in Atlanta as well. I just don't know if I'll find this kind of tile there (and now that it's in my mind, I'm on a mission).

  2. Love the teensy tiny tile look. I would love to install small hexagon tile in our bathroom, but wonder how much of a headache it would be. It is a small space (7 by 5?) so it would be nice and cheap to just plop some big squares down, but the tinies are so pretty! How about you find it and do it and tell me how it goes? :)

    1. Noted, AM. I'll do all the work and you'll reap the reward. I'm starting to question our friendship. ;)

  3. I've seen tile like that at my local Home Depot. Also go online and see what you can find. I'm a simpleton when it comes to searching – I would just put in “small subway tile” into google and see what you come up with. Good luck!

  4. OOO I love it!

I just found some smaller subway tiles- like half sized at home depot. $3 for a square foot. I asked him if there was something wrong with it and was looked at like I was crazy. But it's just such a good deal. Thinking of snatching them up for our future bathroom renos!

But this tile is so much prettier… makes me rethink the backsplash I nixed from the to-do list… find me a good price and I'm in ;)
