(Nanny pun). I’ve been noticing a pattern around the house lately:  I’ve been buying a lot of things in pairs.

New pillows:  The ikat pillows are from Joss and Main. The new gray ones are from Target. I especially like that the gray ones are cozying up the couch a little for winter (I need to get my winter throw from the closet). And my dog was shooed off this couch in order to take the photo, so, yeah – the cushions are basically smashed this way all the time (if they aren’t on the floor from her bouncing around against her owner’s will).

New outdoor chairs:  These were on clearance at Ikea for $29 a pop. I would have purchased four, but I have a small slab in the backyard and I’m planning on tackling the patio area in small steps, so I wasn’t 100% sure I wanted four of these. I think a mix of chairs makes an outdoor space seem a little more cozy (which seems to now be the theme of this post since I’ve mentioned the word twice). Maybe I’ll build a few outdoor stools to go with them at some point. The cushions are also a bit blah – so I’ll likely make some of my own to jazz them up come spring.

New rugs:  These are identical and I’m planning on taking two 4×6 rugs to make a larger area rug (kinda like Bower Power did on her outdoor patio). I can’t decide whether they go up in the primary bedroom, or downstairs in the dining room (which is where they are stored at the moment). The current dining room rug is too small for the space, so I’m considering replacing it with these. The only thing standing in the way of the dining room makeover is the guest bath, and we’re in the final stages as we speak (literally: my Dad has the day off today and offered to come by the house to install plumbing while I’m at work. In short: AWESOME).

Finally, I’ve purchased four (which is technically a pair of pairs, hehe) of these little bamboo shelves – also from Ikea and on clearance. I’m planning on two completely separate projects with them, and neither will be for their original purpose as shelves. It’s is going to be fantastic, if I do say so myself (but I’ll let you be the judge when it comes time to reveal them).

The rest of the mess on the table was from unloading the car last night – it’s been a busy week! This weekend is promising to be extremely productive for me and the house – how about you? Oh, and Happy Friday!

  1. I LOVE the chairs. I'm a transplanted Floridian. I use my chairs inside the house. They remind me of the tropics. What kind of pillows are you going to use in them?
