Even though I really want to paint the study-o navy, I’ve been thinking that painting all of the walls the same dark color would turn it into a cave.

Instead, I’m exploring the idea of painting the wall with the widow, and the one against the door (which is only seen when you’re in the room). That way, the room will appear to have a navy accent wall, the white desk will pop off the dark color, and the room will still stay bright. As for the other two walls? They will actually change to white, similar to the Pinterest pic below.

So lately, I’ve been seeking out accent wall photos for inspiration. Have you ever painted an accent wall in your home? What did you like? Dislike?

  1. I'm painting one wall in my sons room. Evening blue. But I plan to paint the adjoining wall a light shade, and the next white. So not actually an accent wall. Hmmm … my daughters room is similar, one wall pomegranate (red) the other three african violet (orangey). I guess I like that look. I do have an accent wall downstairs too, white and gray stripes. TIPs -> GO FOR IT.

  2. I think that could look really lovely, the navy with a bright white. Very nautical, Cape-Cod sort of style, but still sophisticated.

  3. yes! I love an accent wall. White and Navy blue will contrast to allow light vs. dark. Excellent idea!
