Is it a mess?

Is it a bush?

Or is it a tree?

Whatever it is, my aunt made it beautiful.

This flowering plant (apparently a camellia, but I’m not plant-savvy) has buds that will soon bloom into bright pink flowers. As such, it’s not a good idea to trim this plant from the top-down until after the blooms have begun to die. So, instead of leaving it the massive, overwhelming blob that it was, my aunt cleaned it up from the bottom… leaving us with two potentially beautiful blooming trees this winter. There’s a chance we won’t get blooms at all when it was trimmed this much, but even if they don’t bloom, the pretty, waxy leaves and round shape make for a much-improved front yard!

  1. It is just great that you live in a area that you can get blooms in the winter. So great. I am in freezing Michigan lol.

The tree/bush looks great she did a good job.

  2. I love camelias! And I wish your aunt could come to my house and trim a few mystery plant/tree/bushes in our yard. They've gotten beyond out of control and I am at a complete loss for what to do with them.

  3. I would love to be able to prune like that. I just can't seem to do it. Your aunt has made a raggedy bush into a sweet little tree. Magic! x
