Sunday evenings are always a trade-off   On the one hand, I get a lot more done than in just a few hours than I have all weekend. Last night was no exception.

On the other hand, my productivity has very few photographs to show for it by Monday morning because I’m in a flourish of “the getting-it-dones”. So all you get for now is a sneak peek of what I instagrammed and chose to distract myself with while I was waiting on a skim coat in the dining room to dry.

I’m honestly so excited about this project, I can’t wait to get home today and do another coat. And then I’ll do more work in the dining room, and then another coat.

This is fun for me.

I should probably re-evaluate my social life.

Happy Monday.

Sarah

  1. No social life re-evaluation needed! Because if you need to, we need to as well. We painted the interior of our front door in a super high gloss black last year (and the outside in a turquoise-ish/Tiffany blue). I love coming down our stairs and almost being able to see my reflection in our door.

We had several weeks of being super productive, and now we're on the downswing from that. Exhausted and laying around. But like you, after a weekend of getting little done, we used Sunday evening to check off several of our weekend list items. It's amazing what the threat of a new week will inspire you to accomplish.

  2. I'm seriously jealous of your ability to get 'er done! We have been in our old 1973 house going in 2 years this month, and we STILL have parts of the house with old nasty wallpaper!! I've got 3 young boys, and a 9-to-5, AND a blog with DIY and home improvement projects, so I just can't find the time to get it all done. Thus the reason I sometimes stay up to 2am, only to have to get up so 6 am for work! Sigh….. But…. I love it!!!! :) and you're sparking me to get some of those outstanding projects done!

    1. Well, I'm going on three years, so you're not alone. This stuff just takes time. And with a full schedule, it's understandable that not everything will get done overnight! One of the best things I've learned over the years is to just do things at your own pace; trying to force yourself will only make it less enjoyable and make it that much harder to actually get something done. Good luck!

  3. Hahaha…oh, wait. Maybe I need to re-evaluate my social life too? Sometimes I get an itch at 10pm on a weeknight and start a coat of paint on something. You gotta act on it when you have motivation, right?

It's really a good feeling getting things & projects done. Even better is when you do them with your own two hands. Have a great week, Sarah!

    1. Definitely – let the motivation come when it comes. I think 10 PM is a very productive hour!

  4. Great site! I am loving it!! Will be back later to read some more.looking for more updates.
