Love is in the air with this adorable cross stitch pattern! You classic cross stitch fans will enjoy this one.
I’ve done a few bird patterns over the last few years (and some other winged creatures too), but I’m really enjoying the sweetness of this one. This bird pair felt appropriate for the month of the Valentine, but they’d probably be great with a permanent spot on your wall, too!
This pattern uses both full cross stitches and back stitches to help mark the feathers on the wings and tail. These particular lines you see in the image and pattern are meant to be point-to-point over the full cross stitches — a lot like traditional embroidery. If you are a beginner and need some help, I would recommend one of my simpler patterns that doesn’t use backstitch (note to self: I now think we’ve been sharing enough patterns to mark some of my easiest ones as first-time patterns vs. the others, what do you think?). I have also created this beginner guide for how to cross stitch if you’d like a walkthrough!

P.S. For a while now, I’ve been mentioning that I’ll be launching a new membership program for cross stitch fanatics. It will not only help support the creation and maintenance of these free patterns, but those who sign up will have exclusive access to so much more! I’m hoping to get it ready for early signups this spring and will share sneak peeks of the first few collections soon, as well as the logo for the new membership site. It’s one of those things where the more I work on it, the more I want to create something truly awesome for those who want to join. I can’t wait to share more, so stay tuned.

This is so pretty. And you know I really appreciate the list that I can shop from for the things to make this lovely Crosstitch. Thank you for all the work you do.
Glad you found it helpful! I love this pattern too. I don’t know when I’ll find the time to finish it myself but I definitely want to add it to my display wall (I’m working on having a gallery wall of all my favorite patterns!).
