New month, new pattern! After the April Showers and May Flowers patterns I shared these last two months, I thought it might be fun to make one that included “June” in the name. So that’s exactly what I did. And this month, the new membership site is going live! More details on both things below.
Don’t you love it? It’s definitely my FAVORITE pattern of the entire year. I guess I’m a sucker for vivid teals and greens.
Plus, it’s membership launch month! If you missed the first details of it in last month’s pattern release, creating the cross stitch membership program has been a HUGE goal of mine for the year. I wanted to launch it even earlier, but I’m determined to release several new collections as part of the launch, so I needed a little extra time to create those. The new site will (eventually) include lots more than just new patterns, too! Thus the need for a dedicated site away from the DIY tutorials you find over here at the UDH:
- more in-depth cross stitch tutorials like this simple beginner guide for how to cross stitch
- instructional videos so beginners can all learn together and share their progress with a community of their peers
- lots and LOTS of patterns and collections and themes (starting with 3 new collections in addition to all of the UDH archived patterns!)
- later expanding to products and cross stitch kits based on released designs
- more ideas for new ways to use those cross stitch products
Keeping things all together here on UDH just didn’t make enough sense anymore. Once I knew the membership was REAL and started the building blocks to create it, I quickly realized it needed a hub — just like the one I have at Ugly Duckling House for DIY, gardening, and renovation projects. I have absolutely ZERO intention of stopping my home renovations (and will be starting my biggest project yet once Ruby’s Revival is complete!), so a new membership site was the next logical step. The launch is happening at the end of the month, and those that joined the waitlist are already receiving info on the new collections and more. I’m pumped, and so so grateful this random side project has become its own thing!
Buuuuut enough promotion about the OTHER thing I came to post about today (what can I say? I’m excited and with the amount of work it takes to create, it’s VERY MUCH on my mind). Let’s talk about my favorite pattern of the year: this teal, blue, and black beetle pattern!

I love this new one! June bugs are a favorite since they always were bouncing off the walls on my birthday this month!
FYI: The color key for this pattern has the title “Chill Polar Bear.” The colors look right (there are lots more colors than in the Polar Bear pattern) so there’s no harm, just a typo that should be easy to fix. Yeah, I’m compulsive, and I just notice little stuff like this!
That’s actually a super nice quality to have for my patterns! I am trying to get so many published soon for the new site that small mistakes (like retitling the last page) are easy to slip past my radar. I’ll correct this when I get the chance! Thanks for the heads up!
