New month, new pattern! After the April Showers pattern I shared last month, I thought it might be fun to make a “May Flowers” one. So that’s exactly what I did. Oh, and I’ve got a BIG ANNOUCEMENT for you cross stitch fans!

May Flowers cross stitch pattern

This idea of flowers inside of a simple watering can is actually part of a series I’m considering — mixing up the style and color of the flowers and the watering can each time (and sometimes even a rain boot or shoe, ha!). I’ll have that collection as part of my membership program… which is launching at the end of NEXT MONTH!

Yes! It’s birthday month, so it felt like it was finally time to start talking about these future plans (my birthday was yesterday and I spent it working on the vintage trailer project). It has taken me a WHILE to figure out how I wanted to do the cross stitch member program. I want to create more in-depth tutorials like this simple beginner guide for how to cross stitch. I want to make instructional videos so beginners can all learn together. I wanted lots and LOTS of patterns and collections and themes. In short: I wanted a LOT of things and it sort of started to snowball. And then I realized: I didn’t really want to do all of that on an existing DIY blog that’s mostly about demo and gardening and home improvement projects. This little experiment of mine of sharing pattern designs has really taken off in a way I never expected. And I came to the conclusion that to give people the experience I wanted them to really have, it needed better support from a site built specifically for that purpose. So, it’s all coming as an entirely NEW brand and separate membership website. Think of it like a TV spinoff (appropriate analogy because some have been hugely successful and others have totally flopped; I’m hoping this new site will be the former).

About this May Flowers Cross Stitch Pattern

After April Showers comes May Flowers — cheesy, but a fun stitch nonetheless!

  • Designed for 14 count Aida
  • Full counted cross stitches only
  • DMC floss colors: 14
  • Size: approximately 4.5 in. x 4.5 in. (11.4 cm x 11.4 cm)
  • 63 x 63 stitches

You’ll still get lots of free goodies from me like you do now, but that’s what happens with growing pains. When something steers off the plan you had, you either go with the flow or regroup. I’m deciding to do a little of both, where you’ll have your usual DIY content over here PLUS the stuff I’m adding to the new site, but it keeps things better organized both online and in my head. It won’t be an “either/or”, it will be “and”! I will have a special email series coming as we count down to the launch for those who are interested (it will be sent exclusively to those who signed up for the membership updates in the first place, plus a sprinkling of updates for existing cross stitch folks — there’s a freebie in it for members!). But that’s kind of a HUGE announcement inside of your regularly scheduled monthly freebie patterns — so if you want the May pattern, details below.

Existing subscribers: you can get the free monthly pattern by heading over to my Cross Stitch Patterns Library and entering the password (if you need help, hit the FAQ area on the page or look to your monthly email updates for info).

P.S. I’m hoping to write a special post for the blog about the membership site soon to give you an inside look at everything. But in the meantime, definitely look to email updates since news about the new brand, collections I’m starting with, etc. will all be shared in greater detail. Like I said: I’m doing this to make it easier for those of YOU who visit and ask for more and more cross stitch content (over time, this little side thing I created on the blog just sort of became this bigger not-really-side-thing so I’m working to steer it the way I think folks will enjoy it best). I really hope you all love it and enjoy the new hub I made just for you! More details SOON, so check those emails and happy stitching!
